What is Social and Therapeutic Horticulture?

Social and therapeutic horticulture is the process by which individuals may develop well being -social, physical, emotional and spiritual through the use of plants and nature.

What we do

We work with older residents in care homes and day centres across Derbyshire and South Yorkshire. We work with activity coordinators and care staff to support, train and encourage them to continue to garden with the residents and develop and look after the gardens. Using modified gardening techniques, table top gardening, raised planters, adapted tools older people are encouraged to plan their garden, sow seeds, grow vegetables and flowers, enjoy harvesting and eating their own produce and enjoy creating a beautiful outdoor space.
